Brief Biographical Information:

Prior to becoming a licensed clinical and sport performance psychologist, Dr. Murray was an athlete and a coach. He traveled the world in the 1980s, coaching tennis in North America, Hawaii, Europe and the Middle East,  earned a #16 end-of-year ranking in Florida as a tennis player in the Men's Open Division, and wrote a top selling book "Smart Tennis How to Play and Win the Mental Game," cover endorsed by then #1 player in the world Lindsay Davenport. Tennis professional Vincent Spadea credited Dr. Murray for mental coaching to help him overcome the longest losing streak in pro tennis history and return from nearly 300 to top 10 in the ATP Champions Race in 2003. He has received thank you letters from the likes of legendary football coach Jimmy Johnson, Miami Dolphins Head Coach Dave Wannstedt, Olympic Springboard Diver Michelle Davidson, world ranked squash player Ritwik Bhattacharya, and many others.

He earned a Ph.D. and master's degree from the University of Florida Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, and a master's degree in the sport psychology track in the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences. His doctoral dissertation examined factors impacting performance on Steve Spurrier's 1996 national champion University of Florida Gators football team. He then completed a unique sport psychology internship at Washington State University, working with the football team that went to the Rose Bowl, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Florida International University.

Dr. Murray is past-President of the Palm Beach County Chapter of the Florida Psychological Association (2002), and his work in sport psychology has been reported by ESPN The Magazine, Sports Illustrated, SI.com, and the New York Times among others. He has appeared on television and national radio many times to discuss sport  psychology and performance enhancement.

Dr. Murray helps his clients improve their overall performance and well being. His clients include professional and amateur athletes in a variety of sports, senior executives, and individuals just looking to live a more productive life.
